GreenBlu Temperature-Swing Vapor Pump Crystallizer

Desalination & DistillationEst. CapEx: Low-Cost / Locally FabricatedLifespan: 7–15 Years

Technical Overview

GreenBlu’s solar-thermal crystallizer targets zero liquid discharge by recovering valuable minerals, such as magnesium, from seawater. Planned for testing at the Ohmsett facility, the system pairs evacuated solar collectors with a fractional crystallization process.

Key Specifications & Engineering Parameters

Parameter Specification
Category Desalination & Distillation
Capital Cost (CapEx) Low-Cost / Locally Fabricated
Power / Energy Solar PV / Thermal
Target Scale Community Scale
Standard Lifespan 7–15 Years
Technology Maturity Prototype
Primary Mechanism Evacuated solar collectors provide heat to a Temperature-Swing Vapor Pump crystallizer. The thermal energy fractionally crystallizes salts from brines, enabling selective recovery of valuable minerals while producing clean water vapor.
