Solar-Powered Water Pumping¶

Solar photovoltaic (PV) pumping systems are now the most cost-effective solution over a 15-year lifecycle for rural community water schemes.
System Architecture¶
- Direct PV-to-Water: Electricity from solar panels drives a high-efficiency brushless DC pump (helical rotor or centrifugal) that lifts water directly into an elevated header tank.
- Zero Battery Bank: Eliminating chemical batteries avoids recurring replacement costs every 3–5 years and eliminates battery theft risks.
- Automated MPPT Controllers: Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) optimizes pump speed during morning and late afternoon low-light conditions.
