Developed by Wolfgang Buchner at the Escuela Móvil de Agua y Saneamiento (EMAS) in Bolivia, this system is engineered for total grassroots independence.

Key Features

  • Bicycle Portability: All tools, drill bits, pipe sections, and pumps can be loaded onto a standard bicycle or small motorcycle.
  • Integrated Hardware: EMAS pairs its drilling with low-cost PVC suction/force hand pumps capable of pumping water directly into elevated rooftop tanks up to 20m high.
  • Cost: Entire drilling outfits cost ~$150 USD to construct in local welding shops.
