GreenBlu Temperature-Swing Vapor Pump Crystallizer¶
Pumps & Lifting • Est. CapEx: Low-cost / Locally fabricated
Technical Overview¶
GreenBlu’s solar-thermal crystallizer targets zero liquid discharge by recovering valuable minerals, such as magnesium, from seawater. Planned for testing at the Ohmsett facility, the system pairs evacuated solar collectors with a fractional crystallization process.
Key Specifications & Engineering Parameters¶
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Category | Pumps & Lifting |
| Capital Cost | Low-cost / Locally fabricated |
| Primary Mechanism | Evacuated solar collectors provide heat to a Temperature-Swing Vapor Pump crystallizer. The thermal energy fractionally crystallizes salts from brines, enabling selective recovery of valuable minerals while producing clean water vapor. |
| Target Scale | Household / Village Cluster |
| Standard Lifespan | 10 - 20 Years |
