Technical Overview¶
An enhanced ceramic pot filter designed for electricity-deficient rural areas, combining a porous clay-sawdust composite with a copper mesh disinfectant layer to treat surface water and well water at the household level without external power.

| Primary Mechanism | Earthen pots fabricated from clay and sawdust in varying ratios (50:50, 60:40, 70:30) are fired to create porous ceramic media. Raw water passes through the ceramic wall, which reduces turbidity and TDS by physical straining and adsorption. The water then contacts a copper mesh layer that acts as a disinfectant. Laboratory testing showed the 50:50 model removed up to 89% turbidity and 72.35% TDS from lake water, with complete elimination of E-coli across all models. |
