Technical Overview¶
A bioinspired fog harvester using parallel vertical wires (like a harp) instead of traditional mesh to eliminate droplet clogging and improve drainage efficiency. Designed as an improvement over flat mesh collectors, it increases water yield by allowing droplets to slide freely down the wires.

| Primary Mechanism | Fog droplets impact on closely spaced vertical stainless steel or polypropylene wires (0.5-1 mm diameter, 2-3 mm spacing). Unlike mesh, the vertical geometry prevents droplet bridging and clogging; captured droplets coalesce and slide down the wires under gravity into a collection trough. The design mimics conifer needles to maximize capture while minimizing aerodynamic resistance. |
